The Easy Eight served in WW2, the Korean War, and even into the early stages of the Vietnam War. This variant is visually distinguished by its 76mm M1A2 cannon and its 'duckbill' track extensions.
The official designation of this specific model type is 'M4A3(76)W HVSS', but it is most often referred to as the M4A3E8 or 'Easy Eight'. It was also the basis of several successful tank destroyers, such as the M10, 17pdr SP Achilles and M36. The M4 Sherman proved to be reliable, relatively cheap to produce, and available in great numbers. The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most widely used medium tank by the United States and Western Allies in World War II.
